The general mission of EuroPACS is to promote education initiatives and exchange of information in the field of imaging informatics and PACS. Its scope of activities include multidisciplinary meetings and conferences as well as focused education programs linking between experts and research teams in the field and the medical community at large. Its mission can be summarize by the motto: "linking research to clinical practice".

"The core interest of the Association is centred on medical images embedded into electronic healthcare whatever the producer (radiology, nuclear medicine, surgery, cardiology and other clinical fields). The objective of Association is to promote the exchange of information in the fields of research, user experience, implementation, assessment and audit of the benefit of the development and the use of digital systems for the acquisition, storage, transport, processing, display and reproduction of medical pictures (PACS) and related technologies as well as their integration in the eHealth context" EuroPACS mission statement, accepted by the General Assembly, June 23rd, 2005

On June 2008 at the EuroPACS annual meeting in Barcelona, Professor Osman Ratib from the University of Geneva was elected as the new president of EuroPACS society.
